The 2023 Petit-Figeac is charming and expressive, offering up notes of sweet plums, berries and crushed mint, followed by a medium- to full-bodied, fleshy and supple palate that's ample and enveloping, with succulent acids and powdery tannins. It's a strong effort that will offer a broad drinking window.

A blend of 45% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2023 Petit-Figeac has a deep garnet-purple color. It rolls out with ready-to-go notes of baked plums, boysenberry preserves, and red currant jelly, giving way to hints of dried roses, sassafras, and star anise, with a waft of wild sage. The medium-bodied palate is bright and plush, with vibrant black and red berry layers and great tension, finishing long and perfumed. Very pretty!

The second wine of this brilliant Saint-Emilion estate, the 2023 Petit-Figeac checks in as 45% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and was aged in 30% new French oak. It's a perfect introduction to this estate and has a classic Figeac nose of ripe cassis and darker Cabernet fruit as well as graphite, smoky tobacco, and damp earth. It's medium-bodied and balanced, with a polished, elegant mouthfeel, fine tannins, and outstanding length. Drink 2026-2040.

Red fruits and flowers fill the perfume. Medium-bodied, sweet, vibrant, and refined, the wine leaves you with freshness and a touch of salt accompanying the red berries, kirsch, and Indian spices. Feel free to pop a cork on release while waiting for the Grand Vin to develop. Drink from 2026-2035.

The 2023 Petit Figeac is just gorgeous. Savory herbs, crushed flowers, mint and orange peel lift a core of red-toned fruit. Medium in body and supremely gracious, the 2023 hits all the right notes while also capturing all the personality of this great Saint-Émilion estate. This is one of the few second wines in Bordeaux that really stands out.

The 2023 Petit-Figeac is matured in 30% new French oak barrels. This has a reticent nose that demands coaxing, eventually revealing red berry fruit, orange pith and light cedar scents emanating from the Cabernet Sauvignon. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a keen line of acidity, tart red cherries, with a dab of iodine toward the finish. Lovely.

Gorgeous savoury and floral aspects, ripe fruit with chocolate and dried herbs. Sumptuous, bouncy and upfront, a real life-force in the glass: fun, bright, focused with such depth to the tannins. Serious wine but actually so approachable – I love the rounded and filling texture, and the cool Cabernet touches (55% of Cabernets Sauvignon and Franc combined). The clean precision and detail really stand out. Classic and very charming, mouthwatering; this is great.
