Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Petit Village is closed on the nose, opening to earthy aromas and preserved plums, black cherry compote, chocolate and tobacco notes with hints of roses. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm, grainy and lively with earthy/savory layers on the finish. This needs time, but it should reward the patient!

Retour si attendu au plus haut niveau, nez de violette, corps riche et équilibré, texture harmonieuse, long et raffiné, sans rien perdre d’une touche minérale propre au terroir et bien moins rêche que dans les millésimes précédents.

The 2016 Petit Village is the second vintage made by Diana Berrouet-Garcia. A blend of 77% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 9% Cabernet Sauvignon that matured in 60% new oak, it has a fragrant, quite citrus-scented bouquet with hints of orange blossom and blood orange tincturing the dark cherry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a solid and structured entry. There is a little compactness to this Petit Village at the moment with that Cabernet Sauvignon imparting a slight graphite edge on the finish. This is a fine Pomerol, although I still maintain that this is not reaching its full potential given the terroir.

Here you’ll find a little bit of truffle, licorice, dark cherry and earth, medium bodied with ready, sugar-glazed cherry and plum in the finish. The wine was made from a blend of 77% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc and 0.9% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The 2016 Petit-Village is dense, full-bodied and opulent. Here, too, the heat of the vintage is evident in the wine's slightly stressed feel. Black cherry, smoke, tobacco and licorice are some of the signatures. The 2016 is attractive, but it is also a bit monolithic.

(77 Merlot, 14 Cabernet Franc, 9 Cabernet Sauvignon) | 60% new oak | 14.3% alc. With a very nice attack and really pure and smooth fruit, this is a superb Petit-Village and in this vintage the finish is where all of the work has paid off with length, freshness and vivacity in abundance. There is superb weight here balanced by freshness with floral tones and perfectly matched spice coming from the oak. 18+

Huge density and concentration with incredible elegance and life. A really lovely wine, more fruit than flowers, showing great complexity on the finish. It just seems to be holding itself back. 77% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 9% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in 60% new oak and 40% one year old oak for 15 months. Drinking Window 2027 - 2045

Some real class on the nose here (fancy barrels?). 60% new oak. Then just slightly flat and not quite fresh enough on the palate. Not bad! Definitely not run-of-the-mill right bank. Slightly austere tannins on the end but lovely length. Definitely getting there...

Lovely blueberry, raspberry and boysenberry fruit streams through, picking up a light licorice-root hint for spine. Good energy ripples through the finish. Nice showing.—J.M.

Layered and intense with a fantastic depth of fruit and finesse. Full body, very fine yet chewy tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Close to the excellent 2015.
