Firm, rich and bright, this is an enjoyable wine with clear St-Julien character. The tannins creep up on you, suggesting that this wine will age well. Although subtle, it's also hugely promising with slate, charcoal and menthol notes joined by finely-placed and precise tannins. The vineyards were unaffected by frost, with a yield of 50hl/ha. Christophe Ollivier is consultant here, making the Meffre stable one of the rare St-Juliens to stray from the Boissenot embrace.
