The 2012 is a full-bodied, impressively endowed, dense ruby/purple-colored effort exhibiting a flowery, black fruited set of aromatics, medium to full-bodied flavors, well-integrated spicy, toasty oak and an endearing texture as well as length. It should be cellared for 3-5 years and consumed over the following 15+ years. Better than proprietor Philippe Casteja’s 2010 (a far greater vintage than 2012), this is a super-strong effort from this estate. Trottevieille includes a large portion of Cabernet Franc in the blend, and this terroir is sensational, although perhaps under-exploited. This cuvee achieved 13.5% natural alcohol. The final blend of 49% Merlot, 48% Cabernet Franc and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon was somewhat unusual for a St.-Emilion.Drink: 2016 - 2031
