The 2018 Sociando Mallet delivers a convincing bouquet of blackberry, boysenberry, cedar and light earthy/terra-cotta aromas and nicely integrated oak. The palate is svelte on the entry, offering very good acidity, layered red berry fruit laced with cassis and crushed stone, and an atypically plush, sensual finish. This might well be the best Sociando Mallet I have encountered at this stage, and it will age with style and grace. Chapeau, Jean and Sylvie Gautreau! Highly recommended.

The 2018 Sociando Mallet is magnificent. Deep, powerful and resonant, the 2018 has so much to offer. Black cherry, plum, leather, licorice, gravel, cloves, licorice menthol and chocolate meld together in a wine of real distinction. There is a real sense of density and textural resonance that makes the 2018 compelling. Stated simply, the 2018 Sociando is magnificent. Don't miss it. Tasted three times.

Tobacco leaf, cigar wrapper, fresh herbs and black currant create the core of the wine. Full bodied, powerful, tannic and juicy, the fruit and tannins are ripe, there is a roundness to the texture coupled with density and flesh to the fruit that really shines this year.

The deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Sociando-Mallet has a nose of baked fruits, stewed plums, earth and herbs with a waft of menthol. The palate is full-bodied, firm, hard and chewy with an herbal, hot finish.

66% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc
Pourpre violacé. Bouquet complexe, intense, marqué par des notes de baies noires et de chocolat. Avec un peu d’air, le nez gagne en complexité et je ressens une agréable fraîcheur grâce à des notes de menthe ainsi qu’une touche calcaire. Au palais le vin est friand, dense, équilibré, fruité et doté de tannins parfaitement intégrés, fins, suaves et en symbiose avec la structure. Quelle belle réussite, un grand vin ! Finale fruitée et persistante. 2024-2043

A beautiful rich damson colour, this is powerful, intense, classic Sociando - and for me it's even better than the 2016. It has good tannins, and lots of them, with a core of plum, damson and cassis with a side of fresh herbs, liquorice and subtle spice. It shows great persistency. A wine to look out for.
