A rich, powerful Sauternes, the 2017 Château de Rayne Vigneau sports a slightly deeper gold color as well as a ripe, honeyed, pedal-to-the-metal bouquet of caramelized white fruits, brioche, and spice. Thick, powerful, and opulent on the palate, it’s another impressive sweet wine from the vintage.

Très beau nez distingué et pur, sur les agrumes et les fruits exotiques, précis, clairement défini; comme la bouche d’une infinie gourmandise, très botrytisée mais de grand équilibre, on devine une ou plusieurs tries exceptionnelles, presque une SGN. Grand rapport qualité/prix à prévoir.

The floral notes on the front end add to the pineapple, Mandarin orange and apricot to create the base of the wine. Take all that, drizzle it with honey and vanilla, add a liberal dose of acidity, shake, stir and serve for a delicious indulgence.

The 2017 Rayne-Vigneau has been on a roll of late and this latest release has bags of potential. It has a well-defined, quite intense bouquet with perfumed yellow plum and acacia honey aromas wafting from the glass. The palate is very fresh on the entry with crisp acidity. This feels very pure and full of tension, conveying wonderful energy on the honeyed finish with blood orange on the aftertaste. Superb.

The 2017 Rayne-Vigneau offers up appealing allspice and baking bread notes with a core of green guava and ripe apricots plus a touch of applesauce. It's rich and spicy in the mouth with just enough freshness and a good, long finish.

This indulgent wine is rich, opulent and concentrated. At the same time, the core of botrytis and rich fruit will allow the wine to age well. The finish boasts an acidic lift and a touch of ginger flavor. Drink from 2024.

Pineapple comes through clearly on the nose here, leading to an extremely distinct palate with a rich, silky mouthfeel, good impact and notable fresh acidity. The fruit is ripe and exotic, but it would benefit from a little more of a twist of lime to it.
