Le Point 14,5-15 / 20 par Jacques Dupont le 21/05/2015 Nez gelée de cassis, bouche droite, fruitée, très cassis, assez puissant mais velouté, finale accrocheuse. 15 €.
Vinous 90-92 / 100 par Antonio Galloni le 11/05/2015 The 2014 Maucaillou is super-inviting. Scents of black cherry, smoke, spice and leather flesh out in a supple yet powerful wine loaded with personality. The new oak still needs time to fully integrate, but that should not be a huge issue as the wine completes its aging.
Wine Advocate 89-91 / 100 par Neal Martin le 30/04/2015 The Château Maucaillou 2014 has a classic-styled nose with graphite and tobacco infused black fruit that is very well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded blackberry and boysenberry scents, crisp acidity with a pleasant touch of spice on the finish. This is a very harmonious Maucaillou with pedigree and class - I look forward to re-tasting this in bottle.
Jancis Robinson 16 / 20 par Jancis Robinson le 21/04/2015 Very deep purple. Something a little farmyardy about the nose here. But it’s juicy and relatively simple. Fruit juice with some tannin… Robust but just a little coarse, with marked acidity and a bit drying on the end. Drink 2019-2026
Asian Palate 89-91 / 100 par Jeannie Cho Lee MW le 20/04/2015 This is a very pretty wine from Moulis that combines the ripe, fruity character of a ripe vintage while retaining the freshness of the cool growing season. Mid-palate offers nice density and good intensity of flavors. There are a hint of flowers and cedar notes in the finish.
Decanter.com 16 / 20 par Steven Spurrier le 17/04/2015 Dense, plummy black fruits nose, a smooth attack and a firmer finish. Needs to soften up. Drink: 2018-2025 (86)
Wine Enthusiast 91 / 20 par Roger Voss le 01/04/2015 90–92. Barrel Sample. This is a solid, dark and dense wine, with berry fruit flavors that spring up from a background of fine tannins. — R.V. (3/31/2015)
Wine Spectator 87-90 / 100 par James Molesworth le 31/03/2015 The fresh red currant and blackberry fruit is backed by light loam and tobacco notes. A hint of graphite gives this a bit more energy than most Moulis
