The 2018 Fombrauge looks very promising on the nose with copious black cherry and boysenberry fruit, though no signs of excess or warmth of alcohol. I appreciate the delineation here. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins, velvety smooth with ripe blackberry and raspberry finish laced with marmalade. The 40% new oak is nicely integrated here and it should age with style.

Nez de fruits mûrs et d'épices douces avec une une touche crémeuse. L'entrée de bouche est évasée, ouvrant sur un joli volume., bien tramé. Finale structurée par un tanin juteux.
Très joli vin.

The deep ruby/purple-colored 2018 Château Fombrauge is a beauty and one of the finest examples of this cuvée to date. Smoked black fruits, tobacco, graphite, and hints of chocolate all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, rich, impressively concentrated Saint-Émilion that has ripe, sweet tannins, a layered texture, and a great finish. It's a sexy, pleasure-bent beauty that still has class and impeccable balance. Tasted twice.

The 2018 Fombrauge is a knockout. Ripe, explosive and full of character, the 2018 is the sort of bottle that is opened and enjoyed in short order. Dark red cherry, plum, spice, new leather and espresso are kicked up a few notches in a sumptuous, racy Saint-Émilion that hits all the right notes. Floral and spice overtones add perfume to this super-expressive, inviting Saint-Émilion from Bernard Magrez. The 2018 is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Tasted four times.

Clearly the most concentrated vintage of Fombrauge ever produced, the wine is round, supple, sweet and charming. The fruit offers freshness with licorice, smoke and just an accent of cocoa. The amount of oak used to age the wine has been dramatically reduced. The wine was made from blending 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc and is aging in 40% new, French oak barrels.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Fombrauge gives up expressive scents of Black Forest cake, blackberry compote and Morello cherries with touches of plum preserves, spice box and potpourri. Full-bodied with a firm, velvety texture and plenty of freshness, all that rich, black fruit delivers a long, spice-sparked finish.

This is very floral and beautiful with walnut, dark-berry and blueberry character. Hints of chocolate and tea. Full-bodied yet tight and silky. Long and consistent finish.

This is at the bigger end of the vintage, but it's appealingly perky and full of pleasure. Sweet damson fruit is joined by touches of vanilla bean; nothing too over the top but enough to give a swirl of gourmet patisserie seduction. The tannins build up fairly swiftly through the palate.
