The 2016 La Fleur de Bouard has a generous bouquet with ample black cherry and cassis scents, with a touch of oyster shell and cold flint in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with smooth and supple tannin. The tannins grip the mouth though it does not become too overpowering, while there is an attractive tobacco note that complements the dusky black fruit on the finish. A more classically styled Lalande-de-Pomerol from the de Boüards, it has more personality than previously vintages, and it will give 15-20 years of drinking pleasure.

Sensuous with a candied, dark cherry core of fruit, this medium/full-bodied wine has a fresh, red berry, dark cocoa, cigar wrapper and thyme filled finish. Produced from a blend of 85% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is 14.5% alcohol.

The 2016 La Fleur de Boüard is the best wine I have tasted from Hubert De Boüard's Lalande de Pomerol estate. Pliant, creamy and expansive - with notable depth - the 2016 is super-impressive. Raspberry jam, mocha, exotic spice and French oak all meld together. More importantly, though, the 2016 comes across as less heavy and extracted than in the past, with sweet tannins and terrific balance. Today, it is superb. Tasted two times.

(85 Merlot, 12 Cabernet Franc, 3 Cabernet Sauvignon) | 75% new oak Stylish and with impact, this is a confident wine with controlled fruit and some good power, too. The oak is under control and the fruit is not too extracted. It’s well made and there is enough power to allow it to age for a decade with ease. 17+

Very dark crimson. Bit of sandpaper on the nose. Very rich and sweet. Almost over the top but there is freshness at the end. This is a strong statement! Drying and rather cool on the end.
