The 2014 Lusseau is gracious, open and nicely layered. Sweet red cherry, plum, smoke, rose petal and spices are all woven together in a sensual, delicate wine that shows the more feminine side of St.-Emilion as expressed in this site with sandy/gravelly soils. The blend is 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The Château Lusseau 2014 is a blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon cropped at 36 hectoliters per hectare and aged in 50% new oak. It offers a straightforward, slightly smudged bouquet with candied orange peel infusing the red berry fruit, kirsch developing in the glass. The oak is nicely assimilated. The palate is sweet and ripe on the entry, quite high-toned in the mouth with a rather pinched finish that feels a little clipped by the growing season. I can take or leave this.

This wine is from a vineyard next to Monbousquet and is trying hard to be a great wine but in essence the character of the modest terroir comes through. The fruit tastes a bit jammy and rich with generosity but not that much freshness.

So new it is not even in the fancy tasting booklet. 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
High VA. Big and bold and maximum ripeness. Treacly and porty. Then it fades on the palate. All on the nose.

Very fresh, with lots of floral lift to the plum, raspberry and damson plum notes. Offers a racy sanguine note and fine acidity. Not dense, but defined and persistent.
