The 2007 Rieussec is a blend of 87% Semillon, 4.5% Muscadelle and 8.5% Sauvignon Blanc picked between 13 September and 31 October. It has an almost Barsac-like bouquet with barley sugar joining the ginger and honeyed notes, quite powerful although I feel this is just going through a sullen patch at the moment. The palate is very pure and balanced with a wonderful seam of acidity that slices through the viscous botrytis fruit, quite spicy on the finish, although it does not possess the persistence of the 2005 or 2009, just cutting away swiftly. Tasted April 2016.

This has a very primal nose, the oak exposed at the moment although there is obviously a great deal of fruit concentration underneath. The palate is well balanced, a little oaky on the entry, dried honey, lemon curd, apricot and orange peel towards the linear finish. Tightly coiled Sauternes, quite modern in style, this should develop over 8-10 years in the bottle before really opening up and one hopes, evolve a little more “personality”. Drink 2011-2025.

A barrel sample (the wine will be bottled in February 2010). Lovely purity of fruit on the nose and palate. Floral, citrus notes with a hint of well integrated oak. Rich and full on the palate with weight, substance and lenght. Has the making of a fine bottle. Drink 2012-35.

This Rieussec has a dense, quite oaky nose at the moment with good fruit concentration underneath. Honey, apple-blossom and peach. The palate is very well balanced with a lot of botrytis. One of the few really unctuous, weighty 2007 Sauternes with great length and persistency. Honey and citrus lemon on the finish. Very focused although perhaps it lacks the "soul" of some other 2007's here. Drink 2010-2025. Tasted April 2008.

For several years Rieussec has been consistently among the top three or four wines in the district and this is no exception. The 2007 shows terrific power, combined with freshness and length. This has to be a great bottle.’

Léger trouble dans la robe témoignant de la jeunesse de l’échantillon ! Prise de bois un peu marquée, masquant les arômes primaires, très riche en liqueur, tendu par son acidité, certainement très opulent et complet, mais terminant sur des notes un peu amères, mais cette fois-ci d’un amer dû au SO2 plus qu’au raisin !

Sweet, vaguely sticky nose. Certainly impressive for the sugar level! And there’s an attractive savoury undertow that stops it being sickly. Lots there. Reverberates. Long. Very long. It has that thing that a good Condrieu has: a subtext.

Couleur jaune vert. Nez fruité, mûr et épicé. L'entrée en bouche est douce et très fruitée. Le vin se développe assez gras et liquoreux. Le corps s'écrase un peu en finale. Longueur moyenne.
