60% merlot, 40% cabernet franc, vendangé du 15 au 30 septembre, entre 12,7° et 14°. La richesse du cabernet domine par son velours frais un beau vin floral au fruit déjà éclatant. En bouche, richesse, finesse de tanin, avec un retour sur des notes crayeuses et salines restituées par un élevage noble signé du tonnelier Stockinger. Une réussite.

Nez boisé, réductif, s'ouvre sur les fruits rouges, bouche tendre, moins extraite qu'autrefois, la finale accroche, un peu mais sans sécheresse. O= 2017 G= 12 ans

A solid offering from the sister of Dominique Becot, Sylvie Pourquet, the 2011 Grand-Pontet is lighter than many top vintages, but it is fresh, attractive and charming with an endearing, fruit-forward style. There are plenty of black currant, black cherry, spicy oak and earthy characteristics. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.

Gras, presque épicé, volume séveux mais undimensionnel. Il y a de l'intensité mais le charme et la finesse sont pour l'instant discrets.

The Grand Pontet is a little light on the nose and is showing a touch of greenness. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly chewy entry, although it has decent fruit concentration and the finish exhibits balance and freshness. Nothing exceptional, but it may merit a higher score out of bottle. Tasted April 2012
