Dense and lush now, offering tangerine, apricot, honey-roasted almond and dacquoise notes, with a long, powerful, honeyed finish that lets toasted coconut and mango cruise through. The lovely dried pineapple and honeysuckle accents flitter through the background. Shows stunning length and depth. This will become dreamy with age. Best from 2018 through 2035. –JM

Attractive nose with hazelnuts, vanilla and apricot. Lots of dried orange peel and honey in this excellent sweet wine. Dense and very sweet on the palate with bright acidity and wonderful purity of fruit. Soft, well-balanced and very elegant long finish. Medium sweetness. Intense botrytis spice on finish. Better in 2016

Dégusté sur plusieurs fûts, nous espérons un Barasac d'acacia, de mirabelle, avec une touche de poivre blanc, un rien de mentholé et de pâte de coing. Même si le nez peut changer la structure tramée, relativement unique à Barsac Sauternes, sa profondeur minérale et vivifiante ne changera pas.

Bérénice Lurton owner of Château Climens in Barsac says the wine "have architecture. They have a spirit which may mean they are even better than 2009." She does not show the finished blend at this stage, meaning that Château Climens 2010 cannot be rated, but tasting samples of the 19 individual different lots reveals wines that are very fresh, while at the same time rich and powerful.

Berenice Lurton and her team managed to pick the crop just hours before rains fell on October 23. Tasting through every one of their lots in 2010, there was a theme of tautness, racy acidity and spice. Focusing upon two batches representing about 14% of the harvest, there was patently exquisite balance and a sense of concentrated but efficient power, counterbalanced by immense purity and effervescence. Their problem will be knowing exactly which lots to deselect!

The wonderfully fresh 2010 Climens has aromas of honeysuckle, sweet dried flowers, dried apricots, and marmalade. Berenice Lurton always creates an elegant expressive Sauternes with lightness even in ripe vintages, and in 2010 this gorgeous wine exhibits layers of honey and a kaleidoscope of intense flavours. While 2010 was not as concentrated as the 2009 or the 2005, there is plenty of depth to this wine, making the Climens one of the best sweet wines produced in this vintage.

Au final, des vins qui varient de 130 à 170 grammes/litre de sucre (l'ensemble tourne autour de 130 ou 140 grammes), un vin moins exubérant que l'an passé, assez concentré, plus tardif à s'ouvrir, avec une acidité légèrement supérieure. O=2016 G=30 ans

The blend is not yet made, hence no star rating. But tasting one by one the 19 elements of the future blend indicates the possibility for Bérénice Lurton, the happy owner of Climens, to build a masterpiece, enhanced with supernatural elegance and perhaps even more finesse and emotional power than Yquem! .

L'assemblage n'est pas fait et donc une note n'aurait aucun sens. Mais la dégustation des 19 lots de vendanges laisse présager un vin grandiose dans ses proportions, avec des arômes d'une pureté transcendante, seul rival possible pour Yquem. Et j'avoue même que quatre ou cinq de ces lots m'ont donnée plus d'émotion encore que le grand premier cru.(Pas noté)

There is the vintage tanginess in this wine but also the property’s trademark purity and unctuousness. As usual, it was not possible to taste (or give the analysis of) anything approximating to the final blend – just lots from the various pickings in late September and October – but this is looking like a top quality rendition of 2010, even if not a big and blossomy as the 2009.
