Pure Merlot, this has a very sweet ripe cassis and kirsch-scented nose, a little one-dimensional perhaps (I would have seasoned it with 5% Cabernet Franc...but I am not a winemaker!) It has a soft, very supple entry, fleshy on the mid-palate, slightly savoury (which is strange considering the absence of Cabernet), very smooth and approachable. Blueberry, something slightly exotic. Quaffing wine is pejorative, but it is a very high quality quaffing wine. Nothing wrong with that! Tasted April 2009.

C'est un blason 100% merlot, qui présente une bonne coloration, un nez discret et mûr. Bouche moelleuse, arrondie, charmeuse et assez puissante en finale. L'enrobage tannique est très bon. Vin difficile à cracher !

Unusual this year because 100% Merlot. Deep crimson. Spicy, rich, flattering. Dried fruit notes but then pure. Easy, luxurious, soft. Polished oak tannins. Lightly dry on the finish. But lots of pleasure. Drink 2012-18

Pure, fresh and fruit driven. Lighter in weight and structure than the top wines but enjoyable early drinking. Drink 2012-2016.

Violet and berry aromas. Very perfumed. Medium-bodied, with fresh fruit and acidity. A balance of fine tannins and fruit. 100 percent Merlot this year. Second wine of L'Evangile.
