Tasted blind as a vintage comparison at the Valandraud vertical, the 1992 L'Eglise-Clinet has a brick-colored rim, although the core seems healthy with commendable depth of color. The bouquet is very pleasant. It is fully mature and open, the fruit having ebbed away some years ago, yet there is crispness and focus in situ, scents of potpourri, iris, cranberry leaf and terracotta. The palate is fresh on the entry with fine tannin and structure. There is commendable depth and cohesion: notes of mulberry, black pepper and cedar with tobacco on the finish that feels more Saint Emilion than Pomerol. This 1992 surpasses my expectations and bottles of sound provenance might surprise you. Tasted December 2016.

Not a bad '92 but, like most of them, it's starting to break up a bit. Aromas of tobacco, berry and cherry follow through to the palate. Medium-bodied, with slightly hard tannins and a short, slightly dry finish.--L'Eglise Clinet vertical. Drink now.

Deep ruby-colored, with a spicy, ripe, black-cherry and smoky oak-scented nose, concentrated, and ripe, medium-bodied flavors, l'Eglise-Clinet's 1992 reveals admirable intensity, and a spicy, rich, fleshy finish. It should provide uncomplicated, delicious drinking for 5-7 years.

This well-run estate turned out successful wines in both 1991 and 1992. With its deep ruby color and concentrated, ripe, medium-bodied flavors, the 1992 appears even richer than the 1991. There is high glycerin, admirable intensity, and a spicy, rich, fleshy finish. It should provide delicious drinking for 5-7 years.
