This beautiful offering is a striking success for the vintage. Elegant, pure, and impeccably detailed as well as noble, the deep ruby/purple-tinged 2004 La Gaffeliere reveals fragrant aromatics of sweet cherries, cassis, menthol, and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied with soft tannin, outstanding ripeness as well as texture, and a lovely, low acid, lush finish, this stunningly complex, already evolved St.-Emilion should drink handsomely for another 12-15+ years. It is a sleeper of the vintage.

Intense aromas of crushed blackberry, chocolate and meat follow through to a long, full-bodied palate that's concentrated yet balanced, with ultravelvety tannins and pure fruit. Refined. Better than the 2000. Best after 2011. 4,665 cases made.

The 2004's dense ruby/purple color is accompanied by sweet aromas of black cherries, crushed rocks, and flowers. Broad in the mouth with impressive purity and richness as well as moderately high tannin in the finish, it is finesse-styled without compromising its flavor intensity. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020.

"80% merlot, 10% cabernet franc, 10% cabernet-sauvigno. Robe très sombre à reflets violets, nez moyennement intense de mûre évoluant vers la myrtille , attaque veloutée, milieu de bouche très mûr, belle longueur, tanins fins, belle maturité : un vin superbement contentré, le plus fin de tous."
