Wine Spectator 90 / 100 byJames Molesworththe12/1/2013 Soft, friendly, forward and open-knit, with plum, grape and blackberry fruit. A gentle kiss of singed vanilla and a flash of graphite appear on the finish.
Jamessuckling.com 90 / 100 byJames Sucklingthe3/6/2013 Plums and orange peel on the nose. Medium to full body, with velvety tannins and a clean finish. Nice note of nuts and chocolate at the end. Second wine of Nenin.
Wine Advocate 85 / 100 byRobert Parkerthe2/28/2013 The second wine of Nenin, the 2010 Fugue de Nenin, is mostly Merlot with a touch of Cabernet Franc. It is soft, easygoing and slightly short in the mouth, but round and generally appealing in a simplified fashion.
Wine Advocate 88 / 100 byNeal Martinthe2/15/2013 I must say, I find the bouquet of the Fugue de Nenin much better than recent vintage – showing more purity and fruit intensity but remaining refined and elegant. The palate is medium-bodied with fresh acidity, crisp light dark plum and cranberry fruit leading to a plump, but focused finish. Very fine. Tasted November 2012
Wine Advocate 87-89 / 100 byNeal Martinthe5/31/2011 Cropped at just 37hl/ha the Fugue de Nenin is a blend of 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc including 12% vin de presse. It offers 13.9% alcohol with a pH of 3.72. It is more refined on the nose than I expected with aromas of black cherries, crème de cassis and a touch of cold limestone. The palate is full-bodied with thick chewy tannins, quite rugged and perhaps lacking a little refinement. There is a touch of hardness that will hopefully dissipate by the time of ageing. It coalesces a little in the glass and develops and pleasing note of white pepper right on the finish. Drink 2012-2017. Tasted March 2011.
Le Point 14 / 20 byJacques Dupontthe5/12/2011 92% merlot, 8% cabernet franc. Bien fruité au nez, bouche ronde, un peu éteint sur le plan aromatique, doux, tendre. O=2015 G=8 ans
Decanter Magazine 16,5 / 20 byJames Lawther MWthe4/30/2011 Even better than the (very good) '09 and still great value. Lovely fruit and freshness. Pretty violet notes. Good length. Drink 2015-2025. (16.5 points)
Jamessuckling.com 88-89 / 100 byJames Sucklingthe4/30/2011 Juicy and fruity, with plenty of berry and chocolate aromas and flavors. Medium, soft textured. Second wine of Nenin.
