Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 L'Esprit de Chevalier features warm plums, baked cherries, boysenberries, earth and crushed rocks on the nose with notes of dusty soil and wild sage. Medium-bodied, it is a little firm, thin and chewy on the finish. Drinking Window : 2020 - 2026

Moving to the reds, the second wine of the estate is the 2017 L'Esprit De Chevalier, which is a medium to full-bodied, nicely textured, fruit-forward effort that has plenty of Chevalier gravelly earth and minerality as well as bright berry and raspberry fruits, notes of spice and tobacco, and outstanding length. It’s well worth drinking and is an outstanding second wine to enjoy over the coming 15 years or more.

A layered, pretty red with mineral, blackberry, terracotta and stone character. Medium-bodied with a lovely middle palate and good length. Beautiful, creamy texture. A little bitter at the end, but in a very attractive way. Drink after 2021.
