Vinous

The 2016 Clos Haut Peyraguey is quite low-key on a nose of beeswax, dried honey and a light marine influence. The palate is well balanced with a viscous opening and fine acidity, and spicier than its peers, offering ginger and lemongrass. The problem with this, like many of its peers in this flight, is that it runs out of ideas toward the finish and comes across rather predictable and almost dour. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
