Saturated medium ruby.  Very deep aromas of cassis and bitter chocolate are complicated by sweet spices and peppery underbrush.  Big and broad in the mouth but showing a slightly cool personality, offering mineral and floral flavors that are energetic and pure.  A bit youthfully austere today, with firm acidity and gripping tannins not yet completely integrated, but the power and depth of fruit are obvious even at this early stage.  Forget about this one in the cellar for at least ten years.  Trotanoy offers a noteworthy step up in concentration from all the other Moueix offerings in 2011 with the exception of Petrus. (91(+?) points)

Rich, dense, masculine and substantial, Trotanoy has produced a bigger wine than most 2011s. Similar to the masculinity and robustness of Gazin, with more mineral content, this medium to full-bodied, muscular effort will benefit from 3-4 years of cellaring and should keep for two decades.  Think black cherries, earth, baking spices and serious extract!

This shows very fine tannins for the vintage. Polished. Full body with a solid core of fruit and a long, caressing finish. Classy for the vintage. Drink in 2017.

A dark and structured version, with loam and espresso notes coursing underneath the core of crushed plum, steeped blackberry and black currant fruit. Lots of roasted mesquite and ganache accents fill in on the finish. This is among the most backward of the 2011 Pomerols, showing remarkable stuffing for the vintage. Best from 2018 through 2032. 1,910 cases made.

O= 2018 G= 18 ans

Deep ruby-purple. Deep, brooding aromas of blackberry and violet. Rich, dense and suave, with layered blackcurrant and cassis fruit flavors enlivened by a lovely mineral tang. The mounting tannins remain smooth on the very long finish. This balanced, densely packed beauty will develop slowly in bottle.

A big, virile, masculine-styled wine, the 2011 Trotanoy is one of the more concentrated efforts of the vintage. Some rugged tannins are still present, but the wine possesses a dense plum/purple color as well as lots of damp earth, truffle, black currant and black cherry fruit. Ripe and medium to full-bodied with impressive intensity, depth and length, it will benefit from 3-5 years of cellaring and should drink well over the following two decades. Bravo!

Dominated the JP Moueix tasting. Complex, savoury nose. Rich, pure-fruited palate with good depth, firm, ripe tannins and minerally freshness. Drink 2020-2035.

Rich in hue, flower, truffle, chocolate and a myriad of plum scents introduce the wine. Concentrated with layers of sensuous, fresh, pure, spicy plum and cherry flavors, there is a beautiful, refined, opulent and velvety textural quality to this elegant, sexy Pomerol. 93-95 Pts

Tasted at JP Moueix. The Trotanoy 2011 has a wonderful bouquet that soars from the glass: crushed raspberry and wild strawberry mixed with crushed stone. It has a crystalline quality that is uncommon in 2011. The palate is beautifully composed with very fine structure, a touch of spice, incredible focus and stunning precision on the finish. It has a tensile quality all of its own. This is a quintessential Trotanoy, though one that is not in the same class as either the previous two vintages. Tasted April 2012

Drink 2018-2032
Vineyard encépagement: 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. Very different from Hosanna. Deep crimson. Lovely pure rich fruit, both red and black. A touch floral too and a hint of oak sweetness over all that. Restrained but very persistent and refined to the finish. Earthy mineral aftertaste. (JH)

This wine has a haunting nuanced detailed character that is seductive. Flavours are restrained and on the palate reveal spices, plums, blackberries and savoury fruit. The wine is layered, serious and has nice density and depth. Flavours are lifted by the fresh acidity and firm ripe tannins.

A mouthfilling red, with crushed cherry, plum and raspberry fruit all rolled together and liberally laced with anise and roasted apple wood. There's lots of grip, but this is still harmonious through the finish. One of the more backward wines of the vintage, with an obvious tannic spine that needs some time to soften. Tasted non-blind.—J.M.

A fine wine that shows crisp fruit and a dense, dry structure. This is solid, fruit-packed and firm. —R.V

Very pretty aromas of blueberries, spices and orange peel follow through to a full body, with silky tannins and a long and pretty finish. Polished and refined. Can't decide if I like Hosanna, or this better in 2011.
