Deep crimson and looks pretty youthful still. Big and bold and heady. Very sweet and even a little bit sickly. Absolutely on the cusp between too forced and a great dramatic true Pomerol. I will give it the benefit of the doubt! It's long but it's a bit dry on the end. Drink 2015-2025

Showing better than it did from barrel, the 2006 Trotanoy does have one consistent characteristic that seems to be pervasive no matter what the vintage’s style and personality is – an earthy, big-boned, brawny, muscular style. This wine is deep, rich, full-bodied, with loads of meaty black cherry fruit intermixed with crushed rocks, truffle, and a hint of autumnal vegetation. The wine is broad, deep, and built for serious connoisseurs with cellars to wait it out. This wine needs 4-5 years of cellaring and should keep for at least two decades. It is an impressive Trotanoy, but not one for those unable to defer their gratification.

Berry, coffee and tobacco aromas follow through to a full body, with well-integrated tannins and a long, caressing finish. There's a solid core of fruit. Powerful and structured. Not the 2005, but close. Best after 2014. 1,800 cases made.

Full bodied with elegant bouquet of fresh red fruits. Ripe and almost crystalline with length and freshness on the finish. Harmonious. 2016-40

Tasted at JP Moueix. A great Trotanoy. Superb definition and freshness on the nose with a floral touch: violets and a touch of hawthorn. The palate has great poise and intensity of fruit and is velvety smooth. Ripe black fruits, blood orange and dried apricots. Clams up towards the tannic finish: this will need many years of ageing, but it will be worth the wait. For true Pomerol lovers.

This tannic, rustic, earthy, muscular Pomerol possesses a dense ruby color as well as notions of herbs, roasted meats, black cherries, and minerals. It will require 5-7 years of bottle age, and should keep for 15-20. Interestingly, half of the Trotanoy vineyard (the gravelly soils) was picked before the rain and the other half (the clay soils) was picked after the rain.

Charaktervoller, eigenwilliger Trotanoy. 2014 bis 2024

Mid rather than deep crimson. Almost raw underripe notes on the nose. Then lovely opulence on the palate – very strange! Waxy almost oily smoothness – a real wine of two halves…. Because the palate is so impressive I have to hope that the nose will resolve into merely fresh fruit. Very long and nuanced. 17.5+

What a fine wine, elegant, structured, impressively balanced, full of spice, black currants, vibrant acidity. A great year at Trotanoy. —R.V.

Shows beautiful sweet fruit. Full, velvet, long and layered, with lots of character, yet remains succulent and refreshing.
