Ruby-red. Perfumed aromas of cassis, licorice and herbs; showing more fruit today than the Langoa. Then tight but pliant, with an enticing restrained sweetness and a light gamey nuance to the currant and black cherry fruit fla vors. Finishes persistent and floral, with dusty tannins that spread out to saturate the palate. Lovely claret.

This muscular, highly-extracted, structured 2007 reveals a boatload of tannin (unusual for this vintage). The wine’s dark ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of cassis, new saddle leather, and forest floor offered in a structured, backward, almost unapproachable format. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring, and if the tannins resolve themselves, it will merit a higher score. It should last for 12-20 years.... Drink 2012-2032(89+ points)

This has a wonderful nose for the vintage, with blackberry, currant and cigar box. Complex and full-bodied, with layers of ripe, polished tannins and a very long finish. Juicy, yet refined and agile. Best after 2014.

Very deep crimson. Dumb on the nose. Thick and pretty chunky. This may have lots hidden away for the future but Langoa trumps it at the moment. Severe tannins and very dry end. Drink 2015-25 16,5+

Léoville Barton, quelle classe! L'échantillon présenté est très séduisant. "Il s'agit d'un millésime intermédiaire dont nous sommes très contents" confie Anthony Barton. Issu d'un assemblage de 73% de Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% de Merlot et 4% de Cabernet France, il livre des flots de notes fruitées au nez, soulignées par une pointe de réglisse, et possède surtout une bouche terriblement veloutée, avec une chair croquante. On perçoit toutefois une très belle énergie, parfaitement contenue dans un élevage savamment dosé. L'ensemble est droit et long. Une fois encore, il ne faudra pas le manquer, d'autant que les prix devraient se montrer raisonnables.

Ce superbe vin distance la concurrence avec une régularité presque inquiètante, et parvient toujours à plaire particulièrement dans des années ou l'élégance importe davantage que la masse. Le millésime 2007 est élégant, dense mais pas surconcentré, et présente une longue finale compacte, fruitée, sur des tanins d'une merveilleurse finesse. 2014 à 2025

(a blend of 70% cabernet sauvignon, 27% merlot and 3% cabernet franc) Good ruby-red. Serious, sexy aromas and flavors of black cherry, dark chocolate and camphor. Fat, sweet and suave in the mouth, with enticing firming acidity giving shape to the wine. More stuffing here than shown by its stablemate Langoa today. Finishes minerally, spicy and persistent, with good spine and verve for the year. Very nicely balanced wine, and not at all over-extracted. While Barton expressed the opinion, shared by many of his colleagues in the Medoc, that the merlots "were dull and lacked vivacity," the sample he presented had no shortage of personality.

Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, jugendliche Reflexe, violetter Rand. In der Nase feines honigsüßes Cassiskonfit, zart blättrig unterlegt, zart nach Nougat und Gewürzen. Am Gaumen sehr elegant, komplex, frische Säurestruktur, angenehme Extraktsüße, saftige Waldbeeren und Zwetschkenaromen, sehr gute Länge, im Abgang wieder voll Frische, feine Beerenaromen im Nachhall, sehr gutes Reifepotenzial.
