Wine Advocate

A successful offering, the opaque purple-colored 1999 Gruaud-Larose reveals the estate's tell-tale aromatics of saddle leather, aged beef, blackberries, cassis, licorice, and tobacco. Nicely integrated oak buttresses a medium to full-bodied, extracted wine. This effort saturates the palate with glycerin and fruit concentration. Pure, long, and impressive, it will drink well between 2005-2020.
