The 2018 Bouscaut feels a little underwhelming on the nose, the fruit rather static and lacking vivacity. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, a fine seam of acidity, although the oak is a tad prominent on the finish. I would just like more personality and joie-de-vivre to shine through on what is a slightly sullen Pessac-Léognan at the moment.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Bouscaut gives up scents of redcurrant jelly, plum preserves and cassis with hints of pencil shavings, fragrant earth and bouquet garni. Medium to full-bodied, it has loads of herb-laced black fruits and approachable, rounded tannins, with a lively lift to the finish.
