This is the most amazing wine this estate has ever produced. It is rich and long-lived. It boasts a dark purple color, as well as sweet, earthy, black currant and cherry liqueur-scented nose. There is terrific fruit intensity and purity, as well as moderate tannin in the medium-bodied, impressively rich finish. This wine should drink well between 2002-2014. A sleeper of the vintage.

Lots of ripe fruit, with intense aromas of blackberries and raspberries and layers of fruit flavors. Full-bodied, round and rich. Best after 2000.

This wine is the finest Potensac I have tasted in the last two decades, perhaps the finest ever made. The dense opaque ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of sweet blackcurrant fruit intermixed with earth and minerals. Dense and rich, with sweet tannin, good but low acidity, and an accessible, supple personality, this is a surprisingly intense wine that should age well. It is a sleeper of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 1999-2012.

The 1996 Potensac is the finest wine I have ever tasted from this estate. An opaque black/purple color, and a sweet, unevolved, super nose of jammy red and black fruits intertwined with minerals and earth are noteworthy. Tannic, full-bodied, and layered, this will be a wine to buy by the case for readers looking to maximize their purchasing power. Unfortunately, it will not be similar to the 1982, which was delicious young (and is still drinking well). Anticipated maturity: 2002-2012. A sleeper.
