The 2015 Clémentin de Pape Clément Rouge offers a glimpse into the personality of Pape Clément, one of the great terroirs in Bordeaux. Ample, rich and generous, the 2015 is beautifully textured and supple throughout, with plenty of cherry jam, pomegranate, blood orange and exotic spice overtones. The blend is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The 2015 Le Clementine du Pape Clement is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon cropped at 40 hectoliters per hectare, picked between September 25 and October 15, with malolactic completed in barrel where it will age for 16 months. It has a fragrant blackberry, bilberry and balsamic-tinged bouquet that seems approachable. The palate is medium-bodied with a firm grip in the mouth, tensile tannin, a little static at the moment, and just needing a touch more harmony and "flow" towards the finish. I strongly suspect that this will come good by the time of bottling, after this sultry showing. Drink 2019-2030
