The 2014 Chapelle de Potensac is an attractive, mid-weight wine best suited to near and medium-term drinking. Dark red cherry, plum, spice, menthol and hard candy add nuance on the expressive, salivating finish. This is very pretty, if a bit compact. The blend is 56% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.

The Chapelle de Potensac 2014 is a blend of 70% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc that includes 5.8% pressed wine and sees 10% new oak. There is a touch of rusticity on the nose, a little coarse perhaps. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, slightly obdurate tannin despite the high percentage of Merlot. It finishes a little sharply. This just needs to meld together somewhat during its élevage.

Bright red-cherry aromas but pretty light and evanescent. A little austere on the end.

Fruity and upfront with lively acidity and firm tannins. An intense second wine by Potensac with ripe tannins. On sandy soil and different from the grand vin. Should drink well in 3 to 4 years.
