Produced from 100% Merlot, the wine reached 14.4% alcohol with a spicy edge to its round textured, espresso, cocoa plum and licorice personality. Fresh; sweet and with a touch of oak in the round finish, this is the best vintage yet for 20 Mille.

The 20 Mille has a pretty bouquet with raspberry coulis and crushed strawberry scents that are nicely defined. The palate is energetic, lively on the entry with edgy tannin, crisp red cherry and raspberry fruit with a generous pinch of spice. I am cautious with this because the finish was rather brutal, and needed to show more delineation and freshness. Let's see how it performs in bottle. Tasted on three occasions. Drink 2018-2028

The 2015 20 Mille emerges from a densely planted parcel in Jean-Philippe Janoueix's Croix-Mouton estate and is vinified with carbonic maceration, an approach that gives terrific presence and vibrancy to the fruit. Various samples I tasted suggest the 20 Mille is a bit fragile at this stage. It will be interesting to see where the wine ends up once it is bottled. There is plenty of intrigue, that is for sure. The blend is 75% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Tasted two times.
